Before we touch a single knob in our software, we have to address the real culprit: your room. Sound is like light. In an empty room with hard walls, a single clap is like turning on a lightbulb—the sound waves fly out, hit the walls, floor, and ceiling, and bounce around chaotically. This is what we call reverb or echo. It’s the ‘sound of the room’ that gets baked into your recording, and it’s notoriously difficult to remove later.
A professional studio isn’t just quiet; it’s acoustically ‘dead.’ The walls are treated with materials that absorb sound instead of reflecting it.
